Season by Season: Outdoor Portrait Sessions

Most of my portrait work happens outdoors in whatever light the day offers, and looking back through the archive I found four sessions that span the seasons rather neatly.

The earliest is from September 2017 — a woman photographed by a tree in soft early-autumn light. Then July 2019, a teenage girl among summer leaves, all green and gold. The last two frames are of the same silver-haired sitter a month apart: December 2020 in a polka-dot scarf, and January 2021 in a green paisley one, each session working with the flat, kind light of midwinter.

No studio, no flash — just a sitter, a patch of decent light, and a background that behaves. The seasons end up doing half the styling.
